If Microsoft Dynamics NAV is set up to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, then from a unit of measure, you can access a corresponding unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Before you can view a Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group, you must set up a coupling between the Microsoft Dynamics NAV unit of measure and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group. A coupling acts as a link between a record in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You can choose to couple to an existing unit group or create a new one.

The coupling also enables you to synchronize the unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM with the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV so that data in fields that are mapped between the two is the same in both locations.

You can only synchronize data from the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV to the transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM; not from Microsoft Dynamics CRM to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. For more information see About Dynamics CRM Unit Group Integration.

To set up a coupling between a Microsoft Dynamics NAV unit of measure and a Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group

  1. Open the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV as follows:

    1. In the Search box, enter Units of Measure, and then choose the related link.

    2. Select the currency that you want to couple to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and then on the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.

  2. On the Navigate tab, in the Dynamics CRM group, choose Coupling, and then choose Set Up Coupling.

  3. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Unit Group Coupling window, do one of the following tasks:

    • To couple to an existing unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, select the unit group in the Unit Group field.
    • To create and couple to a new unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, select the Create New Unit Group check box.

The Coupled Records FastTab lists the some of the fields for the unit of measure and the corresponding mapped fields for the selected Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group. The Dynamics NAV Unit of Measure column displays the current field values in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and the Dynamics CRM Unit Group column displays the current field values in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You can use the information on the Coupled Records FastTab to help you determine which Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group to couple to and some of the data to be synchronized.

  4. If you want to synchronize data in the unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM with the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, set the Synchronize After Coupling field to Yes- Use Dynamics NAV Data.

This will copy the data from the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV to mapped fields in the unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

    Note
Synchronization is required when you create a new transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Therefore, this option is selected by default and cannot be changed.

  5. Choose the OK button.

Unless you want to change which Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group that the Microsoft Dynamics NAV unit of measure is coupled to, you only have to set up the coupling one time. You can return to the coupling window to identify differences between Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM data, and perform synchronization.

To open a unit group in Microsoft Dynamics CRM from Microsoft Dynamics NAV

  1. Open the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

  2. On the Navigate tab, in the Dynamics CRM group, choose Unit Group.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM opens to display the unit group record.

Tip
To view a list of all Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit groups and see whether they are coupled to Microsoft Dynamics NAV, in the Search box, enter Microsoft Dynamics CRM Unit Groups, and then choose the related link.

To synchronize data in a Microsoft Dynamics CRM unit group with a unit of measure

  1. Open the unit of measure in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

  2. On the Navigate tab, in the Dynamics CRM group, choose Synchronize Now.

Fields in the unit group will be updated with data from fields in the unit of measure.
