If your application is set up to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, then from a salesperson, you can access a corresponding Microsoft Dynamics CRM user. Microsoft Dynamics CRM users are similar to salespeople in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Conversely, if Microsoft Dynamics CRM is set up for it, you can access the corresponding salesperson in Microsoft Dynamics NAV from the user in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Before you can access a Microsoft Dynamics CRM user, you must set up a coupling between the Microsoft Dynamics NAV salesperson and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user. A coupling acts as a link between a record in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

In addition to enabling you to view a Microsoft Dynamics CRM user, the coupling also enables you to synchronize the salesperson with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user so that data in fields that are mapped between the two is the same in both places.

Note
You cannot data from the salesperson in Microsoft Dynamics NAV to the user in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

To set up a coupling between a Microsoft Dynamics NAV salesperson and a Microsoft Dynamics CRM user

  1. Open the salesperson in Microsoft Dynamics NAV as follows:

    1. In the Search box, enter Salespeople, and then choose the related link.

    2. In the Salespeople window, select the sales person that you want to couple to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and then on the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.

  2. On the Navigate tab, in the Dynamics CRM group, choose Coupling, and then choose Set Up Coupling.

  3. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM User Coupling window, set the User field to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user that corresponds the Microsoft Dynamics NAV salesperson.

The Coupled Records FastTab lists the some of the fields for the salesperson and the corresponding mapped fields for the selected Microsoft Dynamics CRM user. The Dynamics NAV Salesperson column displays the current field values in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and the Dynamics CRM User column displays the current field values in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You can use the information on the Coupled Records FastTab to help you determine which Microsoft Dynamics CRM user to couple to and some of the data to be synchronized.

  4. If you want to synchronize data in the salesperson record with data from the user in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, set the Synchronize After Coupling field to Yes- Use Dynamics CRM Data.

This will copy the data from the user in Microsoft Dynamics CRM to mapped fields in the salesperson in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

  5. Choose the OK button.

Unless you want to change which Microsoft Dynamics CRM user the salesperson is coupled to, you only have to set up the coupling one time. You can return to the coupling window to identify differences between Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM data, and perform synchronization.
