How to: Set Up Responsibility Centres

In Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you can set up responsibility centres to help administer your business.

A responsibility centre can be a cost centre, a profit centre or an investment centre. Examples of responsibility centres are a sales office, a purchasing department for several locations, and a plant planning office.

A responsibility centre can administer sales and purchases for one or more warehouses or distribution centres, where goods are handled and stored prior to use.

To set up responsibility centres

In the Search box, enter Responsibility Centres, and then choose the related link.
On the Home tab, choose New to create a new responsibility centre. Fill in the fields. For more information about a specific field, select the field, and then press F1.

If you are using responsibility centres to administer your company, it can be useful to have a default responsibility centre for your company. You assign it in the Company Information window, on the Shipping FastTab, in the Responsibility Centre field. The responsibility centre assigned to the company will be used on all purchase and sales documents, if the user, customer, or vendor have no default responsibility centre.

If you are using responsibility centres to administer your company, it can be useful to have a default responsibility centre for your company. You assign it in the Shortcut icon

Note
When you enter a responsibility centre code on a document, it affects the address, dimensions, and prices on the document.
